Started reading this series when she was practically giving away the first book. Awesome writer. She just jumped into Serious author with this book: adding her to a special few who elevate the genre into Literature. Jack manages to blend Native American lore, Sci Fi (dragons from an alternate planet/dimension), Greek mythology and serious romance (actually needed Kleenex for this one!) into one of the best books I've read.If you are looking for a summer read - start here. Jack's just gone to pre-order status and I suspect, she'll quickly reach the level of Kresley Cole, KM Moning, Shelly Laurenston and maybe even Anne McCaffrey.She's THAT good! Enuf said. I preface this with saying I LOVE the series. But this one wasn't my fav. It didn't feel like their story but more like a continuation of the series story arc, which as a whole I do like.But I feel like I don't really feel like I understand why they fell in love other then the author wrote it that way. I had a hard time visualizing the personality of the female protagonist maybe mostly because it seemed to be written solely from the males perspective? She didn't seem fleshed out with a motive, he just asked her to sleep with him and she cleared her schedule after if oring him for a while and was like ok. Why not?The author did do some research into the native cultures but there were some continuity errors? Over generous pan first people cultural artistic license?... Idk how to phrase it... First its a wigwam? Then we be in dis here teepee? Why are Potawatomi Algonquin in teepees? Now she's part Pagwadjinini? Ummm aren't they like little tricksters -knee high or smaller traditionally like a gnome or fairy? How is that anatomically possible? Is it humping her Granny's ankle? Can they grow? I have many inappropriate questions? I spent too long thinking about that for my comfort.I know it's probably all artistic license and won't bother most, NBD and all, but I found those things jarred me out of the story while I tried to reconcile them and picture the story in my head... If that makes sense. But if you like the story arc, and I do, this book is must read to make it make sense as there is story arc plot development.I paid money for her other series. I bought this book, and in this economy that a strong endorsement for an author.
